How to get from Vologda to St. Petersburg: plane, train and ready-made tours
Vologda and St. Petersburg are long-standing and good neighbors, bound by centuries of shared history and strong friendship.
If Vologda is rightly considered the cultural capital of the Russian North with its unique wooden architecture, then St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful metropolises in the world, offering a completely different scale and architectural aesthetic.
The interaction between the two cities began hundreds of years ago. While Peter the Great was creating a military stronghold in Vologda, the maritime capital was growing on the banks of the Neva.
In 1918, Vologda temporarily became the diplomatic heart of the country, sheltering eleven embassies; during the harsh trials of the war years, its residents selflessly preserved the life of besieged Leningrad.
